August 21st – Picnic at the Rotary Pavilion Built by Rotary
This week we are meeting at the Rotary Pavilion in Riverfront Park and will be taking a look back at our club’s involvement in its construction.
This centerpiece of the park was built in 2004. It took not only great local planning and teamwork but also international collaboration as well.
Come find out more about the history of this well used and loved structure that we had a hand in creating.
Program Chair: David Deckelmann
Meeting Location: Riverfront Park – Rotary Pavilion
On Wednesday, August 21, we will meet at the pavilion to learn about the history of our club’s significant role in the construction of the Rotary Pavilion at Riverfront Park. This pavilion is part of the larger Salem Rotary Amphitheater, a community-driven project designed to enhance the park’s amenities and provide a venue for various events and performances. The pavilion is a central feature in Salem’s Riverfront Park, known for hosting concerts, community gatherings, and other outdoor events.
Our club contributed both financially and through volunteer efforts to ensure the success of this project. The pavilion is a testament to our commitment to improving local public spaces and fostering community spirit. Its design integrates well with the natural surroundings of the park, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy the scenic views of the Willamette River while participating in cultural and recreational activities.
The construction of the pavilion is part of a broader effort to revitalize and enhance Riverfront Park, turning it into a premier destination in Salem. Our club’s involvement in this project reflects our members’ ongoing dedication to service and community development in the Salem area. We are truly a club that gets things done!
I’m looking forward to seeing you there on Wednesday.
