President’s Message

Happy New Year!

As we step into 2025, we welcome the opportunity to gather for our first Rotary meeting of the year—a time to reconnect, refocus, and recharge for the months ahead. The beginning of a new year offers a fresh start, a chance to set inspiring goals, and a renewed commitment to serving our community as individuals and as a Rotary club.

This year, you’ll notice a change in the format of our meetings. Based on feedback from last year’s member survey, the majority expressed that singing was no longer an element of the meeting they found enjoyable. After thoughtful discussion, the Board decided to retire the song portion from our meetings. That said, music continues to be a cherished part of our fellowship, and we will preserve its spirit during the social portion of our gatherings and for special music performances by students several times a year.

We worked closely with the Music Committee, informing them well in advance about this decision based on survey results. They shared our sentiment that the start of a new year was an appropriate time for this transition. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has led the song portion over the years. This tradition has been a meaningful part of our club’s legacy, and it deserves our respect and appreciation.

However, as a dynamic organization, we must adapt to the evolving needs of our members to remain vibrant and relevant. By making thoughtful changes like this, we position ourselves to grow, welcome new members, and attract younger generations to carry forward Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”

Thank you for your continued dedication to our club’s success. Together, let’s honor our traditions while embracing new opportunities, ensuring that 2025 becomes a year of innovation, growth, and deeper connections.

Our annual Good Works Gala Event is a wonderful way to connect. Please mark your calendars and purchase your tickets for this year’s event on February 8 at the Salem Convention Center. Beth Rhoades and her committee have a fun-filled event planned for us including a Magic Show to highlight this year’s theme: The Magic of Rotary. For more information and to buy tickets go to: Salem Rotary Good Works 2025
