The Rotary Club of Salem invites community organizations to apply for their 2026/2027 Good Works Large Grant.
Eligible projects for consideration are those that directly or indirectly foster, develop, promote, and encourage the health, education, and general welfare (primarily of youth) in the city of Salem and the surrounding area. Interested applicants should submit proposals for a project focused on service performed by Salem area non-profit organizations.
Ideally, the Good Works Grant will be awarded to a program that uses the funds for long-term projects that provide benefits to the community for years to come (such as public space improvements, self-sustaining programs, etc.), as opposed to projects which exhaust the funds after a short time frame (salaries, program fees, etc.). No Salaries or Program Fees will be funded. Organizations that have received a large grant in the last three years are ineligible to apply.
The Rotary Club Good Works Committee will review all submissions and will conduct oral interviews with the finalists on the evening of 9th of November for a 15-minute interview. A formal announcement on the decision of the Good Works Large Grant Recipient(s) will be made by late December 2026. The Rotary Club of Salem Board of Directors will have final say on what project(s) to fund. All applicants will be notified of their application status by December 15th, 2026.
Grantees will work with Salem Rotarians to discuss opportunities for engagement, attending a Rotary meeting to share about the organization and project with the Rotary Club members, and identifying opportunities for Rotarians to volunteer.
The total amount available ranges from $5,000 to $30,000. Projects should conclude by June 30, 2028. After the distribution of funds, the organization(s) selected as Good Works recipients will be required to deliver updates on the progress of their projects to the Good Works Committee as requested.
