February 26th – Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) – What’s it all about!?

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts. It aims to develop young leaders by providing them with a weeklong residential conference that focuses on leadership fundamentals, soft skills, and community engagement. Participants are typically nominated by local Rotary clubs and have the opportunity to connect with peers while enhancing their leadership abilities.

This week we will be hearing in-depth information about RYLA and all that it offers youth in our community and around the world.

About the Event:

Join us as Mayor Julie Hoy presents the annual State of the City address—a comprehensive report on Salem’s accomplishments over the past year and an honest look at the challenges ahead. In her address, Mayor Hoy will likely highlight key issues that will shape the city’s future, including budget constraints, affordable housing and homelessness, public safety, and community engagement.

This year, our club is proud to host the event at the Salem Convention Center, offering an excellent opportunity to network with community leaders and support our new Mayor. (Next year, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will take the helm as host.)

Why Attend?

• Inspiration & Insight: Hear directly from Mayor Hoy about key achievements, pressing challenges, and upcoming initiatives that will shape the future of Salem.

• Community Engagement: Attending in person shows support for local leadership and fosters active participation in our community’s growth.

• Flexible Viewing Options: If you can’t make it in person, you can watch live on CC: Media Comcast Cable Channel 21 or on the City of Salem YouTube channel.
