July 17th – Robert Salberg, CET Director, Children’s Theater Program

On July 24 the Rotary program will feature a drama skit by students of the Children’s Educational Theater known as CET. The program takes place in June and July every Summer and features several plays that are presented during that time. The brainchild of CET was the legendary Phyllis Quanbeck, the former Drama teacher at South Salem High School. The current executive director of CET is Robert Salberg – who is also the drama teacher at Howard Street School. Their director and teacher of this play is Allie Saucy – a very skilled and experienced drama director.

This is a program you don’t want to miss.

Program Chair: Karl Raschkes

Meeting Location: Willamette Heritage Center – Dye House

President’s Message

Becoming a mentor to a new Rotary member is a wonderful opportunity to guide and support someone as they begin their journey with Rotary.

1. Introductions and Welcome

  • Initial Meeting: Within the first four weeks, arrange a meeting to introduce yourself and get to know the new member.
  • Check-In: Find out what is going well and what challenges they may be facing.

2. Understanding Goals and Interests

  • Discuss Expectations: Understand what the new member hopes to achieve through their Rotary membership.
  • Identify Interests: Learn about their professional background, hobbies, and interests.

3. Navigating Rotary

  • Club Structure: Explain the structure of our Rotary club, including committees, projects, and leadership roles. Encourage them to join at least two committees.
  • Blue Badge Requirements: Explain the blue badge requirements and how to complete requirements.

4. Support and Guidance

  • After Six Months: Schedule a meeting to discuss progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Offer Advice: Share your own experiences and insights about being a member of Rotary.

5. Connecting with Others

  • Networking: At meetings, introduce them to other members of our club.
  • Introduce them to Committee Chairs: If they haven’t yet joined any committees, be sure to connect them with leaders.

Even if you travel extensively or fly south for the winter, you can still serve as a mentor. For more information about becoming a mentor, please contact Lauren Gutierrez, Membership Committee Chair, at lionaluv@hotmail.com.
