Roll Up Your Sleeves: How Committee Involvement Makes Rotary Personal
Our committees are the life blood of our club. The Good Works accomplished by our committee members continuously demonstrates how our club gets things done and contributes to our local community as well as our world community.
I encourage each of you to look at your Rotary resume. Review your active involvement in our array of committees. The board members and their areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Beth Rhoades – Fundraising
- Lauren Gutierez – Membership
- Charlene Morgan – Public Image
- Emily Swart – Club Operations
- Alicia Bay – Community Services
- Sabrina Riggs – New Generations
- Pat Force – World Community Service
- Pam Woodcock – Vocational Service
Please have a conversation with any one of these individuals about how you can become more deeply involved with our Rotary club and help get things done.
Each of these individuals has responsibility over at least one committee and most oversee several committees. The individual committees are where the good work of Rotary truly happens.
When each of us became Rotary members we pledged to be involved with at least two committees and roll up our sleeves and be an active part of our club that gets things done.
Your individual expertise, your desire to network with others, your leadership abilities, and the impact on community you can experience are four of many reasons you can realize personal satisfaction through Rotary committee involvement.
Committee involvement truly does get your Rotary experience down to a personal level.
Remember, our meeting this week is a field trip of sorts, as we meet away from our normal meeting location. We will meet at Capital Manor (1955 Salem Dallas Hwy NW) which has provided residential services for seniors since 1963. Capital Manor will provide lunch at $12 per person and the program will provide information about their current programs and facilities. I expect this to be an interesting program whether you are retirement age, know family members or friends who are retirement age, or want to be aware of our community resources. Our presenter is David Lewis who is the leader of Capital Manor and usually brings both wit and wisdom to his presentations.
See you Wednesday – I will ring the bell at 12:15 and we will aim to adjourn by 1:15.
President Doug Parham
