August 14th – The Magic of Rotary can be found in our club committees

Join us this week for a fun, informative, and dare I say Magical Meeting focused on the many committee opportunities within our club.

Come prepared to hear committee descriptions, ask questions, and have the opportunity to volunteer. The Magic of Rotary happens within our committees!

Program Chair: Tammy Dennee

Meeting Location: Willamette Heritage Center – Dye House

President’s Message

At our next Rotary Club of Salem Board Meeting on August 13, we have some financial decisions to make regarding meeting expenses. At the end of July, the management of the Willamette Heritage Center let us know they need to raise the rental fees for our weekly meetings.

Like all organizations, their expenses have increased over the last nine years. Consequently, beginning in September, should we remain at the Heritage Center, our weekly meeting rate for the Dye House will increase by 82%.

A committee was formed and has been researching alternative meeting spaces that might be more affordable, so we will keep you posted as we learn more about possible options.

Not surprisingly, it has been difficult to find less expensive weekly meeting spaces with good parking. Consequently, we will also explore what expenses we might be able to cut or reduce from the operational budget so we can remain at the Heritage Center.

I look forward to seeing you on August 14 at the Dye House for the Committee Speed Dating Meeting. It should be loads of fun!

Warm regards,

President Cathy Grimes
