Vocation Service in Action
January is Vocational Service Month, a time for us to reflect on one of the foundational pillars of Rotary—vocational service. As Rotarians, we celebrate the dignity of work and the impact our professions have on our communities. Vocational Service Month offers us an opportunity to renew our commitment to the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self” within our chosen fields.
Vocational service encourages us to use our professional skills to benefit others. It reminds us that we each bring unique talents, expertise, and resources to the table, which can be leveraged to address the pressing needs of our communities.
Last week, District Governor Jeannine Murrell recognized Beth Rhoades, who owns C & R Remodeling, for using her professional talents to lead our club’s fundraising efforts. Beth also chairs both the Small and Large Grant Committees.
There are many ways to embrace vocational service this month:
- Share your professional expertise through mentoring new Rotarians.
- Use your professional talents to chair an existing or new committee.
- Invite colleagues to join us at Rotary meetings to learn more about our work and values.
Thank you for all that you do to make our community and the world a better place through your dedication and service. Together, let’s continue to exemplify the Rotary spirit in our work, our relationships, and our impact.
