President’s Message

Rotary Club of Salem Gearing Up for Year 107 —

Find Your Committee and Get Involved

The Rotary Club of Salem board of directors is a very busy and productive group of individuals. Your three club officers, President (Doug Parham), Secretary/Treasurer (Jennifer Mills), and President-Elect (Elise Bauman) focus their efforts and attention on the weekly Club meetings, legal and financial matters, and development of weekly program content/speakers.

Your eight functional area directors, Membership (Lauren Gutierrez), Club Good Works (Beth Rhoades), Fellowship/Vocational (Pam Woodcock), Club Operations (Emily Swart), New Generations (Sabrina Riggs), Public Image (Charlene Morgan), Community Needs (Alicia Bay), and World Community Service (Pat Force) oversee committees that have been organized to fulfill specific local or international functions with direct correlation to one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus. The eight directors each have responsibility over two to six committees that have specific and ongoing purposes.

According to our organizational chart, we have developed 33 committees to carry out the many ongoing functions and activities of our club. Some committees have responsibility for events that happen weekly (Club Operations) while other committees have responsibility over annual occurrences (Fundraising, Small Grants, Large Grants). There are also committees with constant responsibility (Membership and Public Image) or seasonal responsibility (Youth Services and Community Needs).

Each member of the Rotary Club of Salem has a great opportunity to match their talents and areas of interest with two or more of our committees to truly become Rotarians in Action. As we near the end of our Club’s 106th year, each member should review the various committee opportunities and determine where they would like to focus their attention during the Club’s 107th year of operation. DACdb is a good resource to gain view of the lineup of committees.

When the new year beings on July 1, 2026, there will be two new club officers: President (Elise Bauman) and President-Elect (Sue Bloom). There will also be three new functional area directors: Club Good Works (John McCulley), Community Needs (Carolyn Schrader), and World Community Service (Pam Wasson).

How will you align your talents, areas of passion, and general knowledge into being an active committee member on two or more of the 33 committee opportunities. If you have questions about any of the committees, please reach out to an area director to learn more and get answers to your questions. The members of our club are the fuel that drives actions and makes our club a vibrant club in the eyes of our community.

See you on Wednesday to learn about the role of the Oregon State Fire Marshall.
