President’s Message

Your Voice, Your Club — Shape the Story of 2026-27

Year after year, from week to week, and month after month our Salem Rotary Program Committee, led by our President-elect brings forward excellent programs. The topic might be focused on federal, state, or local government function, school music, nature or agriculture, nonprofit services or programming, local or state economic drivers, local or state history, or student presentations. The variety and quality are tremendous.

Until I was in the role of President-Elect, I did not know that one of the responsibilities of the President-Elect was to chair the Program Committee. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for the President-Elect. It puts you close to the action near to the program itself without being in charge or running the show. So, it gives you a chance to provide meeting content without being responsible for running the meeting. Give some thought to the various meeting programs that have been presented during the 2025-26 Rotary year. What would be your top three? What presenters would you want to hear again a year later or maybe two years later? What program topics have we not covered that you feel our membership would find interesting?

We invite your feedback and suggestions about programs that have been presented as well as programs that have not been presented but should be. Please share your thoughts with your President, President-elect, or President-elect nominee or a member of the program committee. The calendar is usually filled three months in advance, and there are usually several weeks available for your good program ideas.

As we near the month of May, our Rotary leadership thoughts start to think about transition from 2025-26 to 2026-27. We are looking for member feedback and input. Share your Story, Shape our Future. Every great Rotary year begins with a story. What are your wishes or goals for our Club for 2026-27. Planning and organizing events are beginning to take place. Your thoughts and ideas are important to share with those you have elected to leadership roles. We will offer handout postcards at meetings that will invite your ideas, input, and feedback. Do you have an idea for a hands-on service project, ways to grow our membership, ideas for growing our community visibility, ways to build stronger fellowship, how to observe the fifth question in the Rotary 4-way test – have more fun! We look forward to receiving input from all members.

Please submit your postcard with ideas. Use the box provided near the meeting room entry door by the greeter or hand them to a current club board member of your choosing.

Thanks for the feedback – together we UNTE FOR GOOD.

See you on Wednesday!
