December 9: Salem-Keizer School District Bond Measure Construction Update
In May of 2018, the voters in our community passed a $620 million dollar bond to
expand schools across the Salem-Keizer School District. Since that time, we have a number of schools that have received expansions including additional career-technical education spaces, science classrooms and gyms. We have additional schools currently under construction. During our time on Wednesday, we will provide an update on our bond projects and share the plan for a new transportation facility.

I hope this note finds you well and enjoying the holidays!

Thank you all for your incredible generosity with bell ringers last week to honor Selma. Over $2500 was raised.

Our very own Cyndi Leinassar, Salem Health, will be providing us with an update on our current COVID story every other week. Here is the most current (as of 12/4/2020):
  • Salem Health has been planning and preparing for COVID since 2019, and continue to refine their care and surge plans.
  • Their surge plans are built with the most recent medical science and accurate data available. Salem Health models patient projections daily based on best, worst and probably scenarios. Planning is prudent, thorough, cautious and always centered on the health and safety of patients and the community.
  • Salem Health is busy with the current increase of COVID patients and Salem Health is seeing a steady increase in admissions.
  • Salem Health is a 494 bed hospital, with federal waivers for licensed beds up to 534. There are tiered surge plans that go all the way up to 644 beds if necessary.
  • Salem Health encourages everyone to get the flu shot, continue to wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene and follow social distancing. These are the only tools we have at this time against this disease.
