Greetings, Fellow Rotarians!
I hope this note finds you well! I truly appreciate each and every one of you and have been so excited to see more of you attending our weekly lunch meetings. It really makes a difference when you are there. Several of your Rotarian colleagues have commented to me about the fantastic energy in the room – and that tells a great story. Thank you for bringing that wonderful energy! We already are off to a great start in supporting Salem Rotary Foundation (SRF) month with all those bellringers last week – let’s keep on converting that great energy into record-breaking giving this September!
On a more serious note, did you know that each year over 9 million Americans are the victims of identity theft or fraud? Only about 1.9 million of those cases every get reported, which is concerning. Many of us have had that jarring experience of a card being rejected when buying something, only to find out that some enterprising soul cleaned out our account overnight. More heartbreaking are the cases of beloved elders being victimized by fraud, leading to total financial destitution. (Oregon’s Elder Abuse Hotline is an important resource: 1-855-503-SAFE (7233). I’m so grateful for our Program Committee bringing forward this topic, and look forward to seeing you Wednesday!
