March 16: Depression – the latest brain science and treatment approaches
Mental health concerns have increased during the time of the pandemic. Depression is one of the most widespread mental health issues and nearly 45% of all depression patients are treatment-resistant. After medication and talk therapy, what other options exist?

Y. Pritham Raj, MD, FACP and Chief Medical Officer of Active Recovery TMS will present a groundbreaking treatment for depression called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). He will focus on the studies behind its FDA clearance, how the technology works, side effects, insurance coverage, and the course of treatment.

Greetings Fellow Rotarians,

Passing of Gerry Frank

As many of you know Gerry Frank passed away on Sunday at the age of 98. Gerry had been a member of our club, holding Badge #1, since 1958. Gerry mentored so many individuals and was regarded as a consummate community builder. Gerry will be missed by many.

Contribution to Help Ukraine – Howard Bauman and the International Committee

Our Salem Rotary Board voted last week to contribute $5,000 to the Ukraine Emergency Grant that Portland Metro set up in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Biala Podlaska in Poland! Much appreciated.

The other major tragedy we contributed to this Rotary Year was the disastrous earthquake in Haiti in August 2021.

Singing to Return in April

March 16th will be our first meeting, in a long time, without the required masks. And with no masks, comes singing! Linda will work with the music committee to reinstate the song leaders’ schedule beginning in April. So, for all you newer members, we have traditionally sung a song right after the invocation (I better check on that order…), and it’s just a fun time as a club. Trust me, you do not need to sing well at all. Just stand by Warren, Mary James, or Vanessa and they will cover for you. Words to the songs will be printed out and on your tables.
