5/19 Salem Police Chief – Trevor Womack

Trevor Womack has served as the chief of police for the Salem Police Department since December 2020, becoming the tenth police chief in the history of Oregon’s capital city.

With more than 34 years of law enforcement experience, Chief Womack also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from California State University, Stanislaus, and a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the prestigious Naval Postgraduate School.

As the Chief prepares to retire later this month, he will share with us his thoughts on safety issues and opportunities facing our community.

Meeting Location: Cedar Hall, Main Salem Alliance Building

President’s Message

As Club President for the 2025-26 Rotary year, I have enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm of our members as we have found numerous ways to UNITE FOR GOOD:

  • Coming together to meet as functional committees that are the lifeblood of our Club and do so much to help the Club function efficiently and provide support to many youth-focused organizations in our community
  • Attending our weekly meetings and bringing guests, crafting creative bell ringers to honor family and friends as well as fellow Rotarians, or fulfilling a role that helps the meeting run smoothly for all in attendance, or providing a Rotary Moment/Minute, or bringing an announcement before the group to build interest in a Hands-On project.
  • Participating in a small group, Hands-On activity at a meeting, or out in the community to share your talents with others who are less fortunate.
  • Functioning as a grants committee (Large, Small, or Literacy) to request applications, read and evaluate applications, select grant recipients, and deliver the results of awarded grants to the lucky recipients.
  • Listening to short presentations by our students of the month and enjoying their enthusiasm and curiosity about life and the opportunities that appear before them.
  • Hearing from RYLA participants about the changes in their lives as a result of a week-long conference made possible by Rotary and the sponsorship by our club.
  • Attending our annual fundraising event and seeing the creativity of those involved in organizing the event, seeing the enjoyment of other attendees, and experiencing those outside of Rotary who learn about various forms of community goodwill and investment that comes as a result of Rotary’s efforts.

These are just a few of the many ways we as members of the Rotary Club of Salem naturally UNITE FOR GOOD each and every time we gather.

Speaking of gathering and Rotary, please make room on your calendar for a year-end celebration right here in Salem. District Governor Susanne Holmberg is coming to Salem to celebrate the 2025-26 Rotary year with Rotarians from the 7 Salem-area Rotary Clubs. The District 5100 Year End Roadshow organized by District Governor Susanne Holmberg will occur on Saturday, June 6 at Checkpoint 221 in West Salem at 1233 Wallace Rd NW. This event is open to all Rotarians and their families and guests from the clubs of Salem, East Salem, West Salem, Keizer, Stayton, Creekside, and Salem’s e-club. The event gets started at 4pm. There are no structured program or planned speeches, just connection, celebration, and everything that makes Rotary special. There will be a few awards handed out by District Governor Holmberg. She has asked Presidents of the seven clubs to nominate individuals for certain awards. Expect to hear a lot of Rotary stories, enjoy laughter, and make connections with other Rotarians. There will be music, a relaxed atmosphere, food options for purchase, and plenty of opportunity to celebrate amazing people, have real conversations, and enjoy family-friendly fun. If you have been waiting for the perfect Rotary event to attend, or invite someone to, this is it.

See you Wednesday to hear the latest news from Salem Police Chief Trevor Womack.
