With an eye toward the future, an active group of Oregonians is setting the stage to add another major league sports franchise to Portland – baseball. Leaders in the Oregon Diamond Project have been working with Major League Baseball and the city of Portland, looking for an opportunity to have baseball join basketball and soccer as the area’s professional sports. Mike Barrett, well known sports broadcaster and Portland Diamond Project team member, will describe the process of convincing a major league franchise to locate in Portland which includes a whole lot of money along with a little politics.
