July 13: What’s New at the Gilbert House Children’s Museum?
Alicia Bay, Executive Director of Gilbert House Children’s Museum will share with us updates on the organization and future plans, including the renovation of the outdoor play area. Play is at the core of everything done at Gilbert House. It is a priority to make sure that all children have the opportunity to engage in meaningful play with the adults around them. The Outdoor Discovery Area has provided generations an opportunity to run, climb and slide, but for many, this type of play is physically and intellectually challenging. Gilbert House will break ground in September 2022 on an updated outdoor play experience that will encourage children and their grown-ups to learn together through creative play.

Fellow Rotarians,

Well, I made it through meeting number 1. Thank you all for being very patient as I try to figure out how Chane makes it seem so easy.

Next week we are going to have our annual field trip to the Pavilion. The weather promises to be great and Little Lois says they will deliver lunch if you like. I hope you all can make it. Raymond will also be recording the meeting for those who can’t make it.

As part of my President-Elect Training, you sent me to Houston for the annual Rotary International Conference.  In addition, to the lineup of excellent speakers I did find some international fellowship groups I thought you might be interested in:

1)    All you Wine lovers in our Club, do you know about the Rotarian Wine Appreciation Fellowship?  This is an international group of Rotarians who meet to learn more about fine wine and wine and food pairing.  Here’s their website if you are interested: www.rotarywine.net

2)    Ok not to leave the beer boys out, Rotary also has a beer Fellowship. Beers Rotarians Enjoy Worldwide (BREW). This is an international fellowship of Rotarians all over the world who love to share their love of Beers. Their website: www.rotarybrew.org

I thought you might enjoy learning more about your favorite beverage of choice from people all over the world.

Cheers!!

David
