March 2: Church at the Park, a unique approach to Homelessness in Salem
D.J. Vincent,  Deputy Director of Salem Leadership Foundation and founding pastor of Church at the Park (C@P,) will present about the development and work of C@P, the non-profit that is creating Micro Shelter Communities for unsheltered people in Salem.

C@P was formed in 2007 to interact in a relational way with people who experience homelessness. As the Capital of Oregon, Salem is a central hub in the State for those who experience homelessness, incarceration, and mental illness. C@P has three functioning priorities: Collaborative Navigation, Emergency Sheltering, and Workforce Development.

The focus of their Micro Shelter Communities is the provision of a safe, sanitary, and supportive environment for guests to take the next steps towards housing and employment. With 24/7 staffing and on-site services, C@P seeks to maintain an environment of hope, dignity, and holistic care.

Greetings Fellow Rotarians,

Ken and Barry are Recognized for their Work
Rus McCracken presented both Barry Nelson and Ken Van Osdol with wonderful plaques to show our club’s appreciation for all their involvement with our centennial Gerry Frank Rotary Amphitheater. Although Ken was out of town, Barry was present to accept his award. I had a photo of Rus presenting the award that just didn’t come out. I’m pretty sure Rus would kill me if I added it to this Eblast.

Let’s help another area club with their annual fundraiser. The Rotary eClub of the Willamette Valley is having its Annual Baby Shower. Drop off any type of baby supplies–diapers, wipes, etc. at the Willamette Valley Hospice on April 23 from 10 am – 1 pm. Or, make a cash donation to SouthSalemRotary Foundation.org by selecting Baby Shower from the menu.
