Message from President Tammy

Greetings Rotary Friends,

The month of November has been dedicated to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) for the purpose of raising awareness and financial resources to support Rotary’s six areas of focus. Dawn Bostwick and Tim Murphy made an appeal to the Club this past Wednesday. This week, we will wrap up TRF month and Dawn will provide a recap of our contributions early in December. If you haven’t yet contributed, this week will be your opportunity.

The following text is from an article posted on the Rotary International website. For our new members, you may find it reassuring to know how well respected the Rotary Foundation is:

“For the 12th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating – four stars – from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.

The Foundation earned the recognition for demonstrating both strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. Only one percent of the organizations Charity Navigator evaluates have received 12 consecutive 4-star evaluations.”

“Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that The Rotary Foundation exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work”‘ says Michael Thatcher, president and chief executive officer of Charity Navigator. “This exceptional designation sets the Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness. The rating reflects Charity Navigator’s assessment of how the Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness.”

This week we will spend our meeting time engaging in a fellowship activity organized by Teresa Lulay and her committee members. Remember to wear your Ugly Thanksgiving sweater and bring your unwrapped gifts for the annual Christmas gift collection. Dawn Bostwick is willing to accept your cash donations if you wish to leave the shopping up to someone else.

As the holiday season is upon us, we are reminded of our many reasons to be thankful. I am thankful for each one of you, for your friendship and commitment to our Club. I wish you blessings and laughter during the Season. May we reach out to fellow members, friends and family who may be alone during the holidays.
See you on Wednesday my friends.
