September 25th – Salem Rotary Foundation Month

This week our program will focus on the good works of our foundation in the past year. We will hear from several grant recipients on the impact of our grants on their lives and our community. We will also be recognizing some donors and talking about the various ways members can support our foundation. Copies of our annual report will also be distributed.

Empowering Change: Rotary Club of Salem’s Good Works Grants

Because of the generosity of our club members, each year we fund both local and international projects. Among these initiatives, the Good Works Grants program stands out as a vital vehicle for positive change, enabling local non-profit organizations to implement projects that enrich the lives of Salem residents.

What Are Good Works Grants?

Good Works Grants provide financial assistance to non-profit organizations doing important work in the Salem area. The grants are designed to support projects that align with Rotary’s commitment to service and address local needs, whether in education, health, or the general welfare primarily of youth.

Impact on the Community

Good Works Grants have funded a diverse array of projects. From enhancing educational opportunities for underserved youth to supporting local food banks and public space improvements, these grants have had a significant impact on the community.

Application Process

The application process for Good Works Grants is designed to be accessible and straightforward. Local non-profit organizations can submit proposals detailing their project objectives, anticipated outcomes, and budgetary needs. The Rotary Club’s Grant Committee reviews applications based on their potential impact, sustainability, and alignment with Rotary’s values. This thorough evaluation ensures that funds are allocated effectively to projects that will make a meaningful difference.

This year, the committee is accepting applications from $5,000 to $30,000. Projects should conclude by June 30, 2026.  The deadline for 2024-2025 large grant applications is October 9.

A Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability is a core principle of the Good Works Grants program. Rotary Club of Salem emphasizes projects that not only provide immediate benefits but also create lasting change within the community. Many funded projects include plans for future growth and maintenance, ensuring that the positive effects of the grants will be felt for years to come.
