March 29: State of Local Journalism in Salem

News outlets have been undergoing massive change as they merge, contract, and close. There has been a loss of local coverage, a reduction in news sources, printed vs. online options, and impacts on younger generations. Les Zaitz, one of Oregon’s top investigative reporters and publisher of the Salem Reporter and Malheur Enterprise, will provide an expert update on what’s going on in the current world of journalism.

Program Chair: Bruce Anderson

Meeting Location: Willamette Heritage Center Dye Room

President’s Message
Rotarians,

This week we will be back at the Willamette Heritage Center, Dye House. In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, this week Alison Kelley will be chairing a panel presentation on Celebrating Children.

I would like to thank Rus McCracken for filling in a running the show last week. I understand our speaker Les Zaitz was fantastic.

This week’s Rotary moment picture comes again from our very own First Citizen Chane Griggs who snapped a picture of Les, Doug, and Doug’s guest and friend David whom all went to Jr High and McNary High School together some 50 years ago. Awesome!!!!
